During 2020 and large parts of 2021 we all had too much spare time on our hands, as DJ’s we were unable to do what we love, what we are passionate about and long before and after those big speakers have been turned on and off there is so much hard work that goes on behind the scenes.
We spend our lives driving the length and breadth of the UK but it’s more than that, the planning of the entertainment, then the loading and unloading of vehicles, 6 hours or even longer on our feet, dancing walking around certainly keep us fit.
So what does a DJ do when he has too much time on his hands and well, loses a brilliant exercise and fitness regime?
Danny wanted to do something positive, keep his mind occupied, push himself, step out of his comfort zone, take a challenge and make a difference. Danny signed up to do a White Collar Boxing Match. Despite being relatively fit and healthy with age very much on his side in his early 20’s the last time Danny seriously trained was in school playing football. A lot of hard work was needed on his part to get not just fit, but fighting fit and learn a sport he had never done before.
The date was set. 27th August 2021 would be Danny’s boxing debut. Signed up with Ultra White Collar Boxing at The Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Clayton-Le-Moors. Danny put everything he had into training, along with the help and training from the team at UWCB he also enlisted the help of personal trainer Ben Sheppard from Ainsworth Body Science and boxing trainer Paul Charlton. Cheered on by friends and family Danny won the fight on points after going the full 3-round distance. After the fight Danny thanked friends and family that supported him on his journey and his opponent Jason Welch Danny said ‘he pushed me all the way into the final round and put up one hell of a fight!’
PC Roadshows sponsored Danny and the boxing event itself with Danny’s chosen charity Cancer Research UK.
Well done Danny on your win and all the hard work you put into your boxing journey.
